The battle for the Google #1 spot for ‘freelance web designer’ here in the UK is raging at the moment, and I’m right in the middle of it like some kind of SEO soldier…well that’s what I like to think anyway…
I had been enjoying a consistent top 3 rank for the term ‘freelance web designer’ during the past few weeks, but after a recent check I noticed that I’ve been bitten by Google and my rank has dropped to either 6th or 7th (its fluctuating).
Although this doesn’t sound huge, I can already see a difference in the amount of traffic and enquiries I’m getting. Its tough to come home to an empty inbox sometimes, especially when freelancing is your career but I guess you have to learn to roll with the punches and take them in your stride.
That’s not to say I’m giving up though, I’m planning to ‘bite back’. Over the next few weeks I’ll be looking to push my site back in to the top spots, and maybe I’ll share some trade secrets of how I got back up there (if indeed I do!).
Are you working on any competitive SEO projects at the moment? I’d love to hear how you’re getting on and what struggles you are facing!
